Police Brutality in Malaysia – Protester Beaten During Bersih 3.0 Rally

Bersih is a Malay name for the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections. The coalition seeks to change the Malaysian electoral system to ensure fair and clean elections. As you may know, Malaysia is an Allahu Akbar country with Allahu Akbar government. The Bersih protesters maintain that elections in which this government gains power over the country are marred by vote frauds of many sorts.
The coalition held its first rally in November 2007 in Kuala Lumpur. Second rally, appropriately titled Bersih 2.0 was held in April 2010 and two years later, precisely on April 28, 2012 the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections held Bersih 3.0 (locally called Duduk Bantah).
An estimated 250,000 Malays have turned up for the Bersih 3.0 rally. The police set up the barricades but resorted to tear gas and water cannons after protesters breached through. At one point, a police car plowed into a crowd of protesters and since it was caught on camera, the video quickly spread across the internet claiming police brutality. The officer however stated that he was attacked by the protesters forcing him to lose control over the vehicle which is why he wasn’t able to steer clear off the crowd.
By looking at the video, I tend to think the officer is making a valid point. If he wanted to mow the protesters down, he would not have run the vehicle into a wall. Instead he would just plow a path clear to get out of there. Still, he still should have driven slowly and carefully with all the people on the road. The video is below – you be the judge:
This other video from Bersih 3.0 certainly has more police brutality to it. I can imagine that the man receiving the beating did something to deserve it, but the ugly thing is that once the protester was down on the ground, overwhelmed by the police, officers from a perimeter of visibility quickly ran towards him to have a kick at him themselves. Bunch of twinky Muslims praising Allah with their actions.
Props to CG.Legion for the video and background story:
